Thailand's kratom law change: what customers should know

Updated 2026-07-08

Thailand's Kratom Plant Act B.E. 2565 took effect in 2022. It regulates kratom leaves while also recognizing cultivation, processing, and research as economic activities.

The Act restricts sales to people under 18, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women. It also sets separate rules for imports, exports, certain products, and advertising.

A legal local purchase does not automatically make an export or import legal. International buyers need to check the rules at the destination before discussing supply.
